What was your project?
- My project was about helping the organization Guma Esperanza by donating household necessities to the shelter such as clothes, canned goods, and hygiene products. Guma Esperanza shelters those removed from Domestic Violence and donating would not only benefit the victims but let them know that there are people like us teens out there that are willing to help them in any way possible.
Was your project a success?
-Our project was definitely a success due to the help of those who donated the clothes and especially to those who gave money donations. I personally thanked Dr.Miura and Amber Pangelinan for giving that generous amount to our project because it helped us to purchase more than enough for our project. My group was over excited when it was time to purchase the items because it made us happy knowing the fact that we're able to help those in need.
If you were to do this again next year or during summer, what would you do differently?why? What would you do the same?
- I would definitely do this again next year. The things I would have done differently would be the choice of how we were to receive donations or the time frame we set for it. We notified people late about our project and we did a lot of waiting which is what brought us down. We weren't as interactive with people in the beginning which was something I wanted to change, and we eventually did. Through projects like this you gotta be active and have good time management because things would be a mess without those two, and we developed those two things as we followed through with the project. The only thing I'd do the same would be the purchasing of the necessities and gathering money donations, but then again I'd love to hold events for the children in the shelter as well as the families.
Think of your intended audience, what can you continue to do as you continue your life journey to help these people?
- I will continue to be willing to help others and to give back to those that are in need. I want to work hard to not only give back to my parents, but to my community as well. Giving is better than receiving and I believe that everyone should be given that glimpse of happiness and hope especially during times that seem like everything isn't going your way. I hope to be someone who can leave a huge impact on not only the youth but those around me as a whole.
